Future Experiment
Pessimists raise the right questions, but optimists achieve ultimate success
Experimental Fantasy #001: Clone The Earth (Digital Twins)
"Clone the Earth" encapsulates the essence of a critical AI industry, Digital Twins. This concept involves creating digital replicas of the natural world to simulate, forecast, and optimize real-world conditions.
It is instrumental in modeling extreme scenariosāfor instance, identifying city areas prone to flooding during persistent heavy rainfall. These virtual rehearsals guide real-world responses. Leveraging LBS data and the philosophy of "smart cities," we suggest an innovative proposition to replicate the traffic networks of critical cities digitally.
Step 1: Collect LBS road information
LBS data collection can obtain much user location and movement trajectory information. These data can be used to establish a digital clone of the traffic network, including roads, intersections, bus stops, subway lines, and other elements, and build the corresponding network topology.
Step 2: Real-time traffic monitoring
LBS data can provide real-time traffic status information, including traffic flow, congestion, average vehicle speed, etc. By analyzing and monitoring LBS data in real time, the condition of the traffic network can be understood.
Step 3: Build and backtest the clone model
Use historical and measured data to verify and calibrate the digital twin model. Compare the model's output results with the actual situation, and adjust and optimize the model to improve the accuracy and reliability of the model.
Step 4: Facilitate the intelligence and optimization of traffic in extreme situations
Simulate disasters, peak periods, traffic accidents, terrorist attacks, and other extreme situations separately. This helps in planning disaster management, peak period management, public safety management, city planning, etc., to improve the traffic network's safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
