LBS Real Person Verification
Experimental Fantasy #002: LBS Real Person Verification
Sybil resistance is a massive problem in Web3 or any system where users can easily create thousands of accounts to game a system (Airdrops or voting for governance). How to identify a real user is the crux of the problem. We propose an experimental idea of natural person verification based on LBS capabilities.
2-1: Location verification
Using LBS data, the user's actual location can be verified. By requiring users to perform verification operations at specific areas, such as scanning QR codes or completing corresponding tasks at particular locations, it can be confirmed that they genuinely exist and operate at the specified locations.
2-2: Activity verification
Based on the data mining and behavior analysis of users participating in various LBS dapps on the LBS Chain, potential robots or fraudulent behaviors can be identified through behavior characteristics.
Adding LBS data can partially solve "real person verification" or possibly contribute to existing DID protocols such as Gitcoin Passport. Although LBS data can provide some natural person verification functions, risks and challenges may still exist. We look forward to combining with other verification methods to create better solutions for the entire industry.
